The Battle of Guadalupe

Me: Boys, why is my Virgin statue in the middle of your Playmobile guys?

Jack: She is in the battle.

Me: What is she doing?

Gus: She is protecting the knights.

Me: Oh. O.K. Don't break her.

The boys informed me that the priest in the battle did not make it. Note the dead guy behind Guadalupe.

If it's any consolation, it wouldn't actually be a priest who got killed, but a lay brother. Clerics were prohibited from fighting (the casualty looks like a Hospitaller or perhaps a Teutonic knight), but the un-ordained friars of the military orders did. That's the great thing about toy soldiers: they're educational!

You know, I DID find it a bit disturbing that the priest died. No doubt he died a martyr.

I was more concerned that they had heard you and I snickering about the likely existence of homilies.com a few weeks back...
